a few years ago, i came across a plastic material that melts
and can be reshaped
several times into any shape by soaking on hot water. i
believe this is the
best material to use for repairing broken props and building
any plastic parts.
first use super glue to bond the pieces together, then scape
off dirt and little layer of plastic around the area that
needs to reinforced, lastly apply a layer of moldable plastic
on the surface
unlike epoxy, this plastic material seems to fuse with
the
object and you can continuously reshape it by soaking
under hot water. these plastic material comes in small
plastic beads. you can check your nearest hardware store
or you can order them from me at P600.
learning how to fly a puller plane with front mounted motors
is very frustrating because you will keep on breaking the
prop and spinner rod during rough landing.
protecting the props and motors of your airplane is important.
build a hub that will protect your prop and motor during
head impact.
material i used is thesame moldable plastic, some screws
and a rubber ring
shape the plastic with enough thickness for mounting
depending on the design of your spinning rod, mount it.
do a clamp type if your spining rod is not threaded. you
should make sure you mount the hub thightly to prevent accidents.
attach the prop with the rubber ring. mine i used a german
made (very durable and heat resistant)
a closer view of the mount
notice if an impact occurs. the prop will just bend and
save both plane parts.
