photo added 5/16/09 - almost done

photo added 5/16/09 - hooks were provided to hold the rubber bands

photo added 5/16/09 - engine nicely mounted

photo added 5/16/09 - paper tape was used to support portions of the plane

photo added 5/16/09 - airplane painted with signal red for visibility

photo added 5/16/09 - a front view

the kids started to work on the wingspar using popsicle sticks and CA glue

frames of the main wing starting to take shape

a servo was installed for the ailerons

close-up view of mounting

the airfoil of this wing is going to be symetrical

cardboard added as covering for the leading edge

im using cartolina for covering

more spars and support was added

a fully covered main wing

starting the fuselage

test mount of wings to the fuselage

gas tank was added and the covering of nose area

firewall was temporarily glued with CA

engine mount is also made from layers of popsicle sticks

test mount so see engine fits the mounting

engine mount temporarily glued using CA

front view of firewall with engine mount

tail now started

horizontal stabilizer started

horizontal stabilizer added

stabilizer is two layers of carboard intermeshing

weight test by temporarily mounting engine to nose

rudder now installed. same technique two layers intermeshing cardboard
this ailerons and pushrods now installed

pushrods for the rudder and elevator now installed

everything still popsicle stick. note that i reinforced rudder with marine epoxy as CA alone will not hold the G-forces

a painted wing

tail wheel not mounted. coating of marine epoxy strengthen the boa but take note it also adds weight if too much is applied

firewall and mounting has to be supported with epoxy to make sure engine is securely mounted.
